One of Shakespeare’s earliest and funniest plays, The Comedy of Errors, directed by Scott Witt headlined the 2006 Festival.

The Festival Tree this year was enclosed by set designer Chris Willems’ derelict ship wreck. Costumes were designed by Carolyn Taylor-Smith and created in-house in USQ’s wardrobe department. Ms Taylor-Smith’s creations perfectly captured the zany, mixed identity world of the play.

This year the Festival opened with a dedicated Festival Schools’ Workshop Day for primary and secondary students led by top Queensland theatre artists and educators. A theatre in education production of a new play Beware of Entrance to a Quarrel directed by Robert Ketton featured members of
RAND Theatre Company and introduced young audiences to the artistry of stage combat across the works of Shakespeare.

Here’s the blog that covered some of the activities from 2006 and 2007.
